When God comes through His way!!

I want us to prepare for our prayer time with some thoughts by one of the people in the Bible who had the most experience of God’s power to break chains. Not only had God broken his own chains and saved him from his own twisted thinking but God had used him to bring freedom to many. Because of him, demons had been cast out, the sick had been healed and the good news about Jesus had spread around the Roman world. I’m talking of course about the apostle Paul. If any man had experienced God’s power to break every chain, it was Paul. And that’s what makes these words that he wrote later in his life so interesting. Read with me: Phil.1:12-21

Welcome to the 2^nd sermon on the September series, When God is Unavailable, where we tackle the universal frustration that most of us have experienced at some time or the other. Whether you are a Christ follower or not; no matter how much faith you have or what your beliefs are – we have all gone through a season where our prayers were unanswered and God was ‘Mteja’ (not ‘subscriber’ but ‘unavailable’!) He just didn’t seem to pay attention to my needs or concerns.

Where is God when it hurts?

One thing I believe we all have in common – whether this has been a good year or not, whether you are a believer or not – is that we’ve all had seasons in our lives, where we looked out for assistance from a Higher Power and were disappointed. We’ve all had seasons when we have dialed the divine emergency line and all we got was the dreaded reply “mteja wa nambari uliyopiga hapatikani kwa sasa”. The person you are calling is completely unavailable.  Either heaven was too busy to hear our prayers, or was just not willing to answer. And for some of us, our faith has weakened, or we’ve even lost it as a result.

These things leave us angry, confused and disappointed with God.

Winning – The Reset Principle

What is one thing you have been challenged to change this month?

We often think of stress as something associated with tough times. Your business isn’t doing well, your marriage is on the rocks, your children are misbehaving, or you have a bad relationship with your boss. If you’re in a situation like that, of course all of us will expect you to be stressed out! And of course you’re praying that God will end the stressful situation and bring you success in Jesus name! Some of us are praying for financial breakthrough! Some of us are praying for relationship breakthrough! Some of us are praying for career breakthroughs!
