Stimulus Package

SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Jeremiah 17:5-13

Four things happen when we give…

1. We break the power of money

2. We declare dependence on God

3. We respond to God in obedience

4. We advance God’s kingdom

  1. Waaaaaaat!!!!That was powerful.Am so supercharged to seek God right now like u cant believe but the problem is where to seek him. At least i know the bible is a guide to this but i need more, that is day to day practical tips towards finding the kingdom of God and His righteousness…especially the righteousness part of it. I know His righteousness is greater than mine coz mine is like filthy rags to Him so about His righteousness am knda lost.
Pastor Angie had told us to bring everyone we know including our pets n am sure that if i had a puppy he would have understood coz of the way the sermon was simply put yet sooooooo powerfully. Last week I managed to bring my super religious mum to mavuno!!! Heh that was major for me plus she loved pastor s’s preaching ati he made the word check in in another way it has never checked-in in her life. One down for to go. Have an awesome week

Mr. Wahome has touched not just my life, but every aspect surrounding it. I have seen and heard from the man I have been praying to God to give as an example! I have always asked God why is it you talk of wealth as a godly principle yet all the wealthy people I see around are not christians. But what an example, oh my, I am humbled, blessed but most importantly challenged. I am a 23 yr old guy, got saved here at mavuno 2 wks ago, doing mizizi and loving it. I would love to get in contact with Mr. Wahome for him to mentor me into being a person with a purpose. Please allow me to walk in your footsteps and follow you as you follow Christ. You have enriched my soul. How can i get to you Sir? Let me also take this time to congratulate you and your team on your award and success. Truly the word of God is real.

Im just a custodian!! i intend to start acting it today!!

One other thing, last week during 24/7 when I saw that we need 35M by Dec for the dome and the new offices..my initial reaction was he!! where will that cash come from in such a short time? But as I started praying, I sensed laughter from God. he was like hiyo tu? watch and see me work. Pastor M, that cash is coming..that day i didnt see what role I would play but today I can not wait to see God work through me n mavuno as a whole!!

  4. Pastor Muriithi,

Welcome back and thank you very much for this series that you have began and more so thank you for bringing Mr. Wahome. The only people we hear that have been blessed financially are those in the US. Now we have someone we can relate to. Very inspiring first session we had today.

Would Mr. Wahome share with us how he got out of debt. the actual steps he took. What were his first business ventures that turned him around after ( Here I mean the not the very first ones but the others that he started after discovering the sovereign power of God) did he engange in and what was the capital out lay and how did he raise this money.? I am sure the congregation may want to know this to help them at at level they can relate with.

    For me it was owesome.

  5. Today’s sermon answered a lingering question I’d began to ask..should I strive to get out of debt or juggle my funds and possbility invest some in the recently concluded(and oversubscribed kengen investment…) or perhaps now that tunaendelea kuongea..eye safaricom’s upcoming deal.I know for certain what Bwana Wahome was on about when he said the borrower is always a slave. My monthly Sacco repayments have been utter stress, surely this IS slavery..but not for long.Suffice to say I trust God for ..the 200kshs to get into town,…the 2,000kshs for fuel and certainly the 2m. debt am in.I am frugal, however I learnt some kingdom principles today I shall study more on and apply.I also identified that am one of those stuck in the ‘10%’ giving bracket,..let’s rephrase that the 10% paying bracket:what a relief to determine to get out of that and grow my tithing.Certainly all the godly wealthy people I know do not give the minumum required…hmm why hadn’t I figured this out before???
Can we have details of the Kingdom business training please.
I shall first read the booklet Exercising your way to financial freedom’ then perhaps ask my other questions. This is very relevant,if Jesus actually mentioned money 2350 times in the bible (people actually get these stats..)…iko something.Tx Mavuno Church.Ahh I somehow also noticed Bwana Wahome and his wife Julie do not spot the latest no.plate in town..

  8. Welcome back Pastors from Germany and for those chasing green cards and other opportunities abroad, go slow, we have been there. It was so humbling to see a good example of humility amidst abundance and we look forward to hearing more from the duo next Sunday. One more lesson, to those who have been blessed abundantly, live simple so that others may simply live. Tithing remains a challenge to some of us but we now know which direction to take. Perhaps a small request for Mr. Wahome, kindly consider coming with your Choir next Sunday. It was a big blessing to us who listened to it last year at Mavuno.

  10. "When Is My Season?" Says:

    “When Is My Season?”

Is. 30:18 ‘But GOD’S not finished. He¹s waiting around to be gracious to you.
He¹s gathering strength to show mercy to you. GOD takes the time to do everything right. Those who wait around for him are the blessed ones.’ The Message

God is not in our time. God does not operate in the the realm that we operate in. There is really not a set time that God will show up in our situations.
I know our church choirs like to sing songs like, “He’s right on time” or “God is a right now God” and all that stuff, but those songs are not always correct. God is not always going to be on time or be right now! You see, there will be times when he won’t show up. Face the facts. There will be times when he makes you wait. You may miss your due date, you may have to take the late charge, you may have to miss this months bills, you may have to deal with those creditors. We are always trying to make God show up in our situations, but many of them are solely our fault and God is making us wait! Patience! This is teaching you not to do it again. This is teaching you not to buy those clothes, or go to those places you couldn’t afford. This is teaching you not to date the wrong person, or sleep around before marriage. Patience! God makes us wait sometimes and he will not be “Right Now” or “ON Time” all of the time.

I know we are living in the day when the preachers and teachers are always talking about your season! But God’s seasons are apart of his own sovereignty.
Isn’t it funny that, when something sounds good to us, we will flock to conferences, concerts, and mega ministries because we want the good stuff they are saying? “God is gonna do this”. “Your breakthrough, your season, your next level, etc”. has clouded the reality of serving God and now most folks want God because of what he will do for them. We want a breakthrough, we want out of debt, we want finances, we want our season of blessings! But the reality of it all is, STOP MAKING DECISIONS THAT ARE GETTING YOU BOUND AND YOU WON’T NEED A BREAKTHROUGH! God is more concerned about your daily walk with him. Not a quick fix from a conference speaker! Most of the speakers have gone through hell 80% of their lives and now they are on the other side of it. Now they are rich, driving fancy cars, and living it up. There is nothing wrong with prosperity, but sometimes people in those positions lose their sensitivity to people that are waiting on God. So, they preach that you can be like them and make it seem like it can happen over night. But reality says, you will have to wait on God. And it may be a while. God is not in our time and is working things out on your behalf in his own way.
His ways are not our ways. He does things differently. I know you heard that you are about to step into your season of blessings, but God is not confined to seasons. And your season is when you decide to obey him. Your season is when you decide to stop living in sin and start representing him. Your season is when you accept the things of God and wait to hear from him. Your season is when you decide that you are going to do it his way and not your own.
Blessinga will come continually, not just in seasons, but you must first learn to wait.

  13. I sometimes come to Mavuno when i cant make it for mass and i must say out of all the services that i have attended, yesterday’s service had the greatest impact on me. I have been struggling with a very difficult decision lately of quiting my job. I am a person who has always believed in doing the right thing. Recently, i got a job that looked perfect from the outside but after a few months working, i hate it and the person that it is turning me into. My employer professes to be a born again christian and yet the corrupt practices that we engage in to get jobs (& win tenders) is deplorable. At first i was shocked but to keep my job i had/have to aid these practices. I keep thinking if i quit, what happens to the bills? The people who depend on me financially? I hate the person that i becoming all in the name of becoming financially stable. Last week, my boss gave me a raise and instead of dancing with joy i just burst into tears. As i was listening to Mr. Wahome this sunday it gave me hope to see what God has done for him. That sermon gave me hope and i just want to say thank you.

It has been my dream to build a city, i have dreamt of starting a christian bank, i was afraid of mentioning these dreams out loud coz of fear of people thinking im a psychopath considering my current situation. The development team mentioned it out loud and i was like cool! im in the right place! someone else had mentioned about a christian bank before. now i can be part of that vision. About the sermon all i could think of is matthew 6:33 (im not sureif that is the right verse)” seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these other things shall be added unto you”. and this is my summary of the sermon, you cannot serve God and Money one has to be the master and the other the slave. Let God be your master and money your slave and give not only the 10% tithe but develop principles of giving that will open the windows and doors of heaven for your blessing and when you are successful, by all means give God the Glory.
Wow! this is the beginning of the rest of my life

  15. Finally I get to understand what tithing is about. I’m a simple person but I get worked up when broke. Partly because I’m a little spoilt first as a child growing up and now as a wife. For many years I have been charitable and I thought that was equivalent to tithing. Just to learn jana ati God is not requesting me to tithe, he demands that I do it and by doing so I’m not doing him any favors. Yesterdays sermon also made me realize I have been seeking money first not the kingdom of God and now I understand why although I’m financially blessed in the sense that I’m comfortable, God has not enlarged my territory because I have not been seeking him first. From yesterday I purposed in my heart that I will be tithing every Sunday and God from now on is my priority. Not my Production company, not my home, not my clothes and shoes which by the way I love!!!!! BUT GOD! This is my second month since I joined Mavuno, I’m currently doing mizizi and I have to say…I’m home in Mavuno. Thanks Pastor M and Mr. Wahome for that wonderful sermon. By the way, does Mr. Wahome offer mentorship coz I want to be his protégé.

  18. Amazing Grace Says:

First let me say a big thank you to Pst. M and Mr. Wahome for the powerful sermon you delivered yesterday. This year has been a great journey for me with Mavuno and God is surely making me uncomfortable in my comfort zone all for good reasons. For the last 6 months i knew that i had hit the nail on the head or that i had the vision revelation but two weeks ago I heard God saying he doesnt want me to go into debt to fulfill a mission and that i had to start small. Trust me this was hard for me to understand. I had it all written out and ready to roll out. Then he said no no – start from your backyard and grow. I am still coming to terms with that because he knows me and knows i like big things. I need amazing grace in my life and humility is a lesson i’m still learning. On money – did you have to go to the Freezer?? That just did it for me. The double door fridge i wanted vanished as Mr. Wahome made that statement, and yes if we cant give the maker what we want to give ourselves how does that equal to He Owns I manage. Another lesson learnt – Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you – i’ve parked the fridge story for now as i seek to draw closer to God and as i audit my spending habits vs his will for his money that he’s entrusted me with. I totally understood the moth and the rust concept in the bible – thats what we call easy come easy go, we need to seek him with all our heart and he will provide not only the finances but the wisdom we need to invest what he blesses us with. This to me looks like one of those OUCH months in Church. I’ve had quite a few this year and at the end of it all i really do learn and move on to serving him in a more enlightened and God fearing way. Cant wait for the next 3 Sundays. Or we have one mega service from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.??

  21. Just before attending yesterdays service I flipped through 3 local TV stations all broadcasting paid for Sunday services. As predicted all were talking about faith + obedience (including monetary tithes & offerings) = Prosperity. One preacher said his listeners faith would be overtly blessed & If their dream is to live abroad Arise & Shine na Mungu atakubariki! (waah if we all leave who will attend his church), If a boy/girlfriend has left you arise and shine & they shall return (how about God saved you from a miserable marriage) If you want a car, Arise & Shine and it shall come to you (now how about praying for transport vission 2030 style & less pollution in tow). What overstretched use of Isaiah 60:1

Its was certainly refreshing to listen to today’s sermon. I believe that God has promised and shall meet all our needs but not our GREED. Christians must have a right attitude towards wealth and not put their hope in the worlds riches.

I found jana’s sermon wholistic, for some reason, we Christians have been taught that it is unholy to desire money or want to be rich but yet yesterday was a good example of a man living in the monies but most importantly, knowing fully well that we are blessed to be a blessing, that we are here on earth to fulfill God’s agenda! Our lives are about God and therefore we should seek first the kingdom of God and all these things…Waaaat! It couldn’t have been more profound than that!

I enjoyed the sermon yesterday. However, we need to know where he gives &does God direct him on where &what/how much b4 he gives? Giving over &above tithe is not easy. U should also teach on good ground in terms of giving &the concept of seeding. U can tithe &give to the wrong church, then ur finances r cursed/u lose them. So it’s a very sensitive issue

I have a question though which maybe you or Mr. Wahome could answer for me. I tithe all what I make and receive whether in the form of a gift or refund. One weeks tithe varies from the other. You had mentioned last week (maybe I heard wrong) that your tithe is meant to steadily increase as you tithe. How will that work in my case because business varies from week to week?

I have a feeling that this series should be called ‘Show me my heart’! I have been a Christian for many years, served in church including Mavuno, tithe faithfully, give ‘when i can’ etc. But God clearly showed me that my heart is wrong – when i seek wealth or more, it is all for me/my family. I have been living for myself! And so my prayer has changed. Now I tell God every morning that I am tired of living for myself, but that I do not know how to live for him so he needs to show me how. My quest for God’s purpose for me is many years old – I earnestly desire to know what plans God has for me in his kingdom. Anybody out there feel me?

  41. Wow!
Is the one word that comes to mind.

God is using Mavuno & Mizizi in a HUGE way to speak clarity and direction into my life. I just love the simple conversational style in which God’s word is taught. I actually hear what is being said… the noise and distraction have taken a back seat.

The past two sessions have spoken direct to my heart. I came to the sessions looking to know more about money. Interestingly money matters are not the main focus. The message that has stayed with me is to seek after God’s heart.

I have had to take a hard look at obedience or rather the lack thereof, to take a hard stance and get past the very “good reasons and justifications” why tithe can be put on hold while i do a, b, c and if anything remains then … So, the pay vs. give tithe was a blindspot … really had it like i was giving tithe versus as the commandment that it is…to pay tithe.

So I got/get that there is alot to unlearn.
PLUS plenty to learn in terms of seeking Him first (breaking free of doubt, resignation, cynicism, mistrust, doublemindedness…) to get to where i am truly worthy of stewardship.

RE: Squeaky’s request/suggestion… is it something that can be considered at Mavuno? That the Kingdom business training could be started at Mavuno, say on a weekday evening or a couple of weekday evenings (bearing in mind those in employment)?

    Thanks.
    Have an incredibly blessed week.
